Not too long after the sad news of the sale of the old Packard buildings we're happy to annouce that construction has begun on a Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. It will be located on the campus of the Gilmore Car Museum, which currently contains several vintage auto museums and archives. The 15,000 square foot building will be patterned after an original Lincoln dealership from the 1920s, a neo-classical building consistent with the luxury image of the Lincoln motor car. Vintage Lincolns from the company's beginnings in 1921 will be displayed. Among the vehicles to be displayed will be the earliest "Leland-Built" Lincolns, classic custom-built Lincolns from the 1920s and 1930s, the innovative Lincoln-Zephyr and the legendary Lincoln Continental. The Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum joins a growing campus of automotive museums including the H. H. Franklin Museum, Model A Ford Museum, Pierce-Arrow Museum, the Classic Car Club of America Museum, plus The Tucker Historical Collection and Archives. Aside the Lincoln plans a museum devoted to Cadillac-LaSalle automobiles is scheduled to be built as well. (Continue at Read More)
