Loooong ago, we wrote about the coffin nose mystery.
John Davies responsed without being aware of that with a fresh view: "It is an AC chassis, I have a 1921 Anzani car with the same frame shape, but differences are engine mounting plates also the starting handle shaft comes through the front of the chassis, you see in the pictures it is mounted on a bracket below the chassis on the Fivet engined cars. Also these early cars had a transverse front spring rather than the later quarter elliptic, the mountings should be evident. The tubular pedal shaft on the Anzani cars is arched upwards in the centre to clear the rear of the clutch, the tapered channel section cross member does not have the triangular lightening holes on the Anzani cars. Attached also a picture of the 10HH AC chassis. Any more parts of the car lying around at the dump?"
