Veteran Gearbox

Australia seems like a goldmine for veteran parts which never will get exhausted. John Hills likes to learn what may be the origin of this veteran gearbox. He writes: "It was manufactured under licence in accordance with the 1899 Renault patent. Details of the original vehicle it came from are now lost, but the gearbox was sourced from New South Wales, Australia."

Editor: the gearbox is very dry but seems otherwise in remarkable condition. We're sure that not long from now it will pop-up in one of the incomplete projects of which many are waiting for necessary parts to comply with the 3 out 5 rule in the circles of veteran car lovers. Anybody who can tell which makes of car made use of this type of Renault direct drive transmission? Otherwise we will check again with Renault Freres
