The Citroën DS will celebrate its 60th birthday during InterClassics Brussels 2015, the classic-car exhibition that will be held from 6 through 8 November at Brussels Expo. The DS is a legendary icon that was awarded the prize for the most revolutionary technical innovation of the 20th century in 2001. Designed in co-operation with the Belgian Association of Citroën Clubs (ABCC), the ‘60 years of Citroën DS’ theme pavilion will present the history of this famous classic.
Citroën DS 21
Among other classics, the Citroën DS 21 will be on display during InterClassics Brussels. President Charles de Gaulle commissioned Henri Chapron to build this DS 21 ‘Decapotable’ in March of 1966. The first time the car was officially used was during President Charles de Gaulle’s visit to Djibouti on 26 August 1966. The car continued to be used by presidential palace residents before being sold in February 1980. This gem may be admired in its completely original and unrestored state.
Citroen DS 23
The ‘Lorraine DS 23 injection body no. Chapron 7656’ will also be on display. This was the very last car built by Chapron on the basis of the Citroën DS, and the only model known as a ‘séparation chauffeur’ 23 injection. Five times as expensive as a normal Citroën 23 injection model, this Lorraine was purchased directly from the family and had only 10,000 kilometres on the odometer at the time. This classic car may also be admired in its completely original and unrestored state.
