Pierre Bardinon Collections 1957 Ferrari at Retromobile
RETROMOBILE BY ARTCURIAL MOTORCARS
5 & 6 FEBRUARY 2016 - PARIS

In the 2016 edition of the official auction at Salon Retromobile, Artcurial Motorcars is delighted to be presenting one of the most iconic cars in the history of motor racing: the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti, chassis 0674, from the Pierre Bardinon Collection, situated near Aubusson in France.

Pierre Bardinon made a huge impact in the collecting world during the second half of the 20th century. Passionate about motorsport from a young age, this industrialist, himself a gentleman driver, assembled an unrivalled collection dedicated entirely to Ferrari and motor racing. Over time he brought together fifty factory Ferrari comprising the most successful and the most iconic models in the marque’s history. His collection is considered to be one of the most important in the world.

The Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti left the workshops at the start of 1957, fitted with a Scaglietti body. Driven by the most famous drivers, it took part in the key events in 1957: Sebring 12 Hours ( 6th, Peter Collins /  Maurice Trintignant), Mille Miglia (2nd, Wolfgang von Trips), Le Mans 24 Hours (Mike Hawthorn / Luigi Musso), Swedish Grand Prix (Hawthorn / Musso), Venezuela Grand Prix (Hawthorn / Musso). Its career continued in 1958 : Cuba Grand Prix (winner, Masten Gregory / Stirling Moss) and various American events (Gaston Andrey / Lance Reventlow).

" A Work of Art and the Queen of Speed, this represents the elixir of the exceptional: beauty, rarity, racing success, history, authenticity and provenance! "
Matthieu Lamoure, Managing Director of Artcurial Motorcars
