Peter McGann sends a photo of an unknown edwardian sports or racing car.
"The cars owner was Major Adrian Gilbert Scott, architect, son of the famous architect George Gilbert Scott who had just been married (on the 20/2/1918) to Barbara Hemy (passenger in the photo), daughter of the famous marine artist and royal academy member Charles Napier Hemy. I am told this was taken as they left the church after the wedding, the flowers and ribbons on the door handle attesting to this. This image is from the family history of the Hemy family prepared by Margaret Powell (Nee Hemy) , daughter of Barbara. The registration number of the car is AC 1125."
Another photo, most probably taken on the same location is to be found at Remember Falmouth. Although that photo is of much better quality it does not give away much more detail. The boattail racing body seems to have an alloy glow with two seat cut outs. Maybe the work is not yet finished as there are frontwings but nothing at the back. Barbara seems to have changed clothing between the two photos. Anyway on our photo the view on the round shoulder radiator and dashboard with oilers is better. Also take note of the protruding frontwheel axle stubs, the early steeing wheel, the rear suspension with stabilising bars and the transverse mounted exhaust muffler. Already we're looking forward to read your comments.
