When the city of Lelystad was about 16 years old, people there organized the first gathering of classic cars. That was in 1983... Since then Lelystad has grown and became the capital of a new province of The Netherlands. This year, on June 19, Lelystad will welcome the 32nd edition of the National Oldtimer Day. Since 1983 the event has developed into an important Dutch happening where hundreds of cars of all ages and origins come together.

The number of French cars of lesser known makes, however, has always been a bit small in Lelystad. Therefore Fons Alkemade, expert in pre-1930 French cars, has decided to try to change this and he is calling on all owners of these makes (also those of the postwar period) to consider participating in this event. A tight definition of 'lesser known French makes' is not available but this category does not include - as you can understand' the widely known makes like at least Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Panhard, Bugatti, Simca and Hispano-Suiza.

The event is, evidently, mainly visited by Dutch car owners but owners from countries surrounding Holland are most welcome. More information about the event can be found on www.oldtimerdaglelystad.nl. Fons can be reached via the icon 'Fons Alkemade historian' on PreWarCar.
