The Twenty Second Summer Serendipity* was held on Sunday the 25th August at The Royal Oak, Herefordshire (also known for the VSCC's new year gathering). Mark Garfitt and team organised despite grayish skies a splendid mid-summer gathering of vintage and pre-war cars and their owners, a low-key event and all the better for it! The Landlords Richard and Liza McBain made us all very welcome for this relaxed old-fashioned summers day at a typical British Pub. There was even a small Autojumble to distract us from a cornucopia of vintage and pre-war transport gathered for our delight. Vehicles that caught your correspondents eye included a splendid Bentley 4.5 litre still wearing it's original Maythorn close coupled coupe body, the car was bought by the owner for £150, but this was some years ago (!). Harry Bowers brought along YW 13 his delightful and very original Amilcar CGSs, and nearby was Tony Wright with his very recently acquired Amilcar C4 with a splendid body in planked timber with copper fastenings. Vintage Lanchesters are rare, but two (or was it three) came along, and the pre-war saloon aficionado would have been delighted to see the late vintage Crossley saloon. Mgs, Austin Sevens and pre-war Morris abounded, but in particular two fine bullnose Morris deserved close study. A splendid day, all thanks to the organizers and the marshalls
