A valuable day with friends and not so valuable cars

A day with friends

Last week we featured a rather dusty Austin A70. Its history is the history of an old workshop, which closed its doors in the 1970s... and was rediscovered a few weeks ago full of old machinery. Maybe not a spectacular barnfind, but still. The notice came from the family of the deceased owner. And - as often is the case - they try to sell the grounds now occupied by the old building. They knew that inside were various old vehicles: lorries, tractors, cars and motorcycles. Nothing really valuable (perhaps the most unusual was the 1926 Renault tow truck), but as usually happens, the "barn find" atmosphere fooled us.

During an entire day we were moving the cars to the outside, and under the dust we discovered original paint, old documents and almost immaculate engines. The heirs want to keep the 1929 Ford A and the 1926 Renault, while the members of the local club are trying to convince them to preserve the cars in "as found" condition. For the moment all the vehicles have been relocated safely, and probably will remain hidden for many years... but undoubtedly there is almost nothing as interesting as spending a day with friends, dust and unrestored cars, no matter the value or destiny of the vehicles involved.
