At last weekend's British Cars & Lifestyle in Holland we spotted this intriguing little roadster with noddy looks. The current owner acquired it in Belgium a good many years ago. He found it sitting on top of a container advertising a scrapyard, which of course is the 'common' thing among breakers.
Do not be misled by the number plate, that was added by the owner just because it was added for 'cosmetic' reasons. Not that it needs any added interest as far as we're concerned, it's pretty damn interesting as it is! The bodywork is thought to have been made in Belgium in the 1930's and although some details are somewhat crude, the overall appearance is quite pleasing. We therefore suspect it's a professional job. The underpinnings are quite a surprise: not your normal Austin Seven, Morris or small Ford but a Rover 8hp chassis with its air-cooled flat twin engine, as produced from 1919-1925. So the big question is: who made this? Any ideas, clues or better period photographs out there? Do let us know.
