One of our frequent US visitors sends photos of a very nice, yet unidentified gearbox.
"I write to you for your dearest help. My garage spit forth this all aluminum 4 speed OVERDRIVE transmission in nearly New /No Wear condition. The all-aluminum case is a high quality one piece casting with the frame mounting holes 13 X 17.5 inches on center. The shafts ride on ball bearings and are housed in cast bronze end caps that have provisions for setting the end play of the two main transmission shafts. The number 5139A is stamped on top of the case along with the initials J.C.R. The construction and fit and finish is of the highest quality. The transmission has a French flavor and "appears " to be circa 1907 to 1914."
Anyone out there with knowledge on french edwardian overdrive transmissions....?
