The Retromobile show is just one day away. You will not only see the most fantastic cars for sale at the stands but also the Auction Houses will have some very interesting cars on the block. Last week Robin Batchelor made you fell in love with the amazing 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3, which will be the star of the RM Sotheby's action. And today Tony Hillyard will give his view on the auctions of Artcurial and Bonhams.
Artcurial Motorcar Auction;
Friday 10 February 2017, Automobile sale start at 14:00 local time
I’m not quite sure why the lots are arranged as they are with cars and motor cycles all mixed together, but there we are. There are 154 lots.
The star of the show for me has to be Lot 36, the 1919 Avions Voisin type C1. With the 3969cc 80 bhp four cylinder sleeve valve engine and a four speed gearbox. With her interesting history this hansom motorcar really deserves the very best of conservation.
Location: Rétromobile hall 2.1, Ports de Versailles, Paris
More info, visit: www.artcurial.com
Bonhams, as always, have an interesting range of Automobilia including some beautiful bonnet mascots, some by René Lalique. Motor cycles with some impressive unusual bikes, including a Vincent Comet (500cc). The smaller engined sister of the popular 1000cc model.

Automobiles, one is spoilt for choice in this catalogue. Talking of catalogues, Bonhams have a reputation for not only holding well organised professional sales their catalogues have become collectors items in their own right. They are truly pieces of art, the photography is world standard.
As I say, an impressive line up. no less than two Lancia Stratos lots 314 and 390. An interesting 1900 Benz Ideal vis-a-vis lot 324 formally of the Sharp collection. For my sins, I owned an early sleeve valve Panhard from that collection.
A very pretty 1930 Delage D8 Cabriolet , lot 326.
Lot 332 offers a magnificent 1928 Hispano-Suiza 27HP T49 chassis court cabriolet. Best described as mouth watering.
Plus, perhaps one of the stars of the sale, lot 339 the 1935 Aston Martin Ulster 2-seater sports.
