Prewarcar Paris auction

Three large auction houses – RM, Bonhams and Artcurial – were battling each other during the Rétromobile Week in Paris. In the pre-war department RM had one million seller, a 1936 Delahaye 135 S racing car, winning the Spa 24 Hours that year. The car was sold for 1,008,000 euros. Bonhams sold a 1929 Bugatti Type 35B (chassis number 37371) for 1,610,000 euros. Not a huge amount for a car like this, but to be honest, it was not an original 35B model. It started life as a 37A and in 1935 was fitted with a 2.3-litre straight-eight from a Type 43, thereby ‘producing’ a 35B. After the war, the Bugatti competed in many historic races.

Artcurial had no less than five pre-war cars among their top-ten sellers. A 1931 Bentley Sportsman Coupé by Gurney Nutting, sold for almost 2.2 million euros, was the top seller at the auction itself (a 1953 Ferrari 166 MM sold for about 350,000 euros more - 2,550,000 euro - but after the auction). Other pre-war million-sellers were a 1924 Isotta-Fraschini Tipo 8A cabriolet by Ramseier (sold for €1,287,200) and a 1934 Hispano-Suiza J12 Type 68 by VanVooren (sold for €1,127,000). The 1929 Alfa 6C was sold during auction at 900,000 euro, yet appears in the results list with 899,384 euro (?)

Full results Artcurial (first showing the best and a bit lower an unclear yellowish link to all results)
Full results Bonhams (giving you a hard time in stead of a clear list)
Full results RM Auctions (simplest, most forward listing)
