The first quiz with the new setup was definitely not easy at all. We are not sure if it was the quiz itself or the new way of judgment. We did receive quite some emails and messages about it, mostly very enthusiastic. We are glad you like it. We would like to say; even if you do not have the time to participate in all the quizzes, please give your answer when you do. You still have the chance to win!
About quiz #454. When we received the photo and the information from Fredy Ley, we knew this wasn't an easy one. And indeed; we did receive some answers but only one was correct! The car was a Hans Rohrbach car. Powered with an 8/24hp N.A.G. Motor, maximum speed 125 km/h. Answers came from Tom St.Martin who thought it was a Messershimdt (or Messerschmitt?). Charles Peele gave an answer to the question 'What is it?' as well: It's ugly. And Keith Kuehn responded to that and would like to keep it in his barn. Fritz Hegemann (jury member in the earlier quizzes) took the quiz more serious than Charles did but gave the wrong answer. It is not a Dorner.Salvador Claret thought it was a Grade, which isn't correct as well. The only good answer came from Gerd Klioba: "This car was built by Hans Rohrbach of Hamburg, Germany. In 1922 he founded the Leichtfahrzeugb au-Gesellschaft for the exploitation of his patents like a unit-body car. He is mainly known by a Modern Mechanics article from 1931 about his three-wheeled car with rear steering, which he built using a NAG 8/24 PS engine. Other ideas of him were a light car with two engines set in the front wheels and a reaction engine not requiring any cooling. In 1948 he showed an updated design of his three-wheeler as a model at the Leipzig fair." So congratulations Gerd. You are the winner of the first quiz and therefore take the number one position!
