This quiz wasn't too hard, judging from the number of correct answers. Even if you couldn't identify the wreck, it would have been possible if you recognized the clues in our text. Both "gone to the dogs" and "swift" would have brought you to Whippet, even if there was no running-dog mascot on the radiator. From the correct answers we choose the one by Don Risen, who told us all we wanted to know: "1927 Whippet Model 96, introduced as a replacement for the Overland in July 1926, made by Willys-Overland Company, Toledo, Ohio (also Toronto, Canada for right hand drive exports) and exported cars world-wide. Wheelbase 100 inches, four cylinder, 30 horsepower, water pump cooling, pressure lubrication, sold from $535 to $735. 4-wheel mechanical brakes. 188,000 produced for 1927. This make was a victim of 1929 stock market crash, this brand was replaced by Willys models after 1930. Cannonball Baker drove one in late 1926 from Los Angeles to New York, averaging over 43 miles per gallon." Congratulations Don, with your first win! See Read More for a list of correct answers...
This Whippet we photographed at "Parsons Fruit Stand", located in Keremeos, British Columbia. Apart from the Whippet there's lots of other machinery to enjoy!
