This weekend saw another highly succesfull Classic Days (Germany), not to be confused with the French event under the same name last May. The well patinated castle Schloss Dyck and its lovely gardens and park seem purpose built especially for the event. If it wasn't for the Bratwurst and perfect German organisation you could think - like one of the visitors told us -you were at a Goodwood of two decades back. No overkill of commerce, no crazy crowds and summer weather usually found only in brochures. For your editor who possibly has seen too many shows it was a bit of a job to dig out the 'jewels in the park', between the rows of glossy Erdman & Rossi bodied Mercs (like above), the well known big boys Bugattis (and yes that's Olav Glasius with his lady killing & widow making T54 4,9 litre GP), the inevitable 21 litre Fiat Mephistole and other celebrities like the only surviving Amilcar CGSs Coupe and a nice selection of specials. Surprise in the showfield was this 'raggy top' Bentley and a bit further this oily rag Invicta. Sorry if we may sound a bit 'blase', but after all this we were still looking for real surprises. Glad we found them in the end, well hidden in the far out corner of the show.  Yet these cars we will present in separate features as they truly deserve your very special attention. Stay tuned!
