The weekend of December 8/9 sees Chateau Impney hosting the H&H Christmas Gala Auction and Dinner where superior dishes will be served:
One of the lucky bidders will be sure to buy the 1936 Derby Bentley 4¼ with its rare and beautiful pillarless coupe coachwork by Gurney Nutting. This car with its delicious worn and loved interior was acquired by the vendor in 1974 by swapping it for a Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato and has been kept in near-perfect storage conditions ever since, with just occasional use.
The disappointed under-bidder may be tempted by a 1933 Lagonda 4.5 litre Tourer from the estate of jazz musician Jim Shelley who used his aero-modelling experience to build its fabric covered 'Bugsback' coachwork. The sporting improvements listed make this a competitive car.
Another British tourer from 1933 is the Alvis Firefly with unique coachwork by Cross & Ellis - one of only two similar, but unidentical, two-seaters with dickey they made for the Firefly. The lady vendor replaced the crash gearbox with a sychromesh unit from a later Alvis, but the original has been retained.
We love the nick-name for the 1933 Morgan Super Sports - 'Atomic Orange' - and the 1220cc J.A.P V Twin out front will explain the origin. A highly competitive car with 70 bhp and competition spares included.
From orange to blue - from two seats to one - this 1933 Austin 7 Single Seater has just had a five-year restoration and looks as good as it goes. The aluminium body (exact copy of original twin cam car) has been painted by the people who paint F1 Mclarens and the engine has had all the tradtional tuning work. 'Ready for the track'.
Bon Appétit !
