A 'Lucas, King of the Master Bedroom' story

Lucas headlights

Richard Thomas writes: "I got these headlights at a swapmeeting looking very sad, I was told they were off an American PT boat, but after I cleaned off about six mm of tarry paint, I found a Lucas King of the Road badge and on the underside of the headlight bucket I found the following: RLH 803K. Could I please impinge on your patience and knowledge to ask what year these were made? And what vehicles were they fitted to? I was going to use them to replace the obviously incorrect 1924 Buick headlights that are on "Burt" my 1917 Studebaker, but it looks like I've jumped out of the frying pan, and into the fire! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

How did I become an old car fanatic? Well, when my mum and dad got married and bougt their first house, dad wanted to restore a veteran, but they couldn't afford a garage. So late one night, when the neighbours weren't watching, they took the bay window out of the master bedroom, and dad restored a 1913 Fiat 52B in the master bedroom! That was back in 1952 and dad is still a member of the V.C.C.A! Tragic isn't it!

Editor: Well Richard, if your mum and dad are still together and not in fight with the neighbours we think it was all worthwhile doing.
