Andy Watt reports: Last weekend saw the 119th Anniversary of the Paris Rouen Race. This year 42 pre-1928 cars set off to drive from Paris to Rouen and back. A great event organised by the Teuf Teuf Club with the organisation overseen by Mm Lucas. We took the 1904 40hp Berliet for the event. The weather on Saturday was warm and sunny but the return journey was colder with some rain. All 42 cars finished. Some fabulous unrestored cars, the Renault with body by Kellner and the Delauney-Belleville which has been in one family ownership since new. There was also a Le Metais. Friction drive it was owned and driven by the grandson and great granson of the car's designer and builder. (see Andy Watt & 'fatspark' John departing in their 1904 Berliet) |
