Last week we received this charming e-mail:
"I get your emailed newsletter, and it prompted me to ask you if you could kindly try to locate a 1934 Austin 7 hp Tickford Cabriolet that I sold in 1966 to a Mr Ronald (?) Atwater, via a Kier Helberg. The registration Number was BMD 67. I attach a photo, showing the hood raised, before folding down over the back, the whole being wound by a chromed handle, and internal gear wheels. There can't be any/many other Tickford Cabriolets in the USA - if it's still there. I would love to locate it again after so long, as I completely restored the car in my early 20s. Many thanks, Neill Bruce, Berkshire, UK "
Well Neill, like Model T's, the Austin Sevens are sturdy survivors and 47 years is less than a fraction of a second on eternity, so hey why not. Now finding one smiling small Seven in Uncle Sam's big country may be trying to locate the proverbial needle. So let's start by asking the Austin Seven crowd currently crossing the States. Less than a fortnight ago they visited the AACA Museum in Hershey, which may prove a second worthwhile contact. And finally we can only hope that our US readers remember your car.
