The vast, chain-driven Mors racing cars from Paris are among the most evocative and romantic of the early Grand Prix monsters. Even still photographs of the barnstorming giants, built by Louis and Emile Mors and designed, initially, by Henry Brasier, conjure up all the smells and sounds of the gruelling city-to-city road races of the early 1900s. Although hardly refined, even by the standards of the day, the huge brute strength of the Mors made it a favourite with some of the best drivers around, those brave and foolhardy men pushing these vast machines to their limits on the unpaved roads of France and beyond. Despite the obvious attraction of the Mors for the modern day enthusiast, a complete history of the marque's racing cars has never been published, a fact that French historian Sébastien Faurès Fustel de Coulanges has changed with an impressively in-depth two part article for The Automobile magazine, part one of which is in the July, 2013 issue, which is out now.
