Scotland is characteristic due to its beautiful landscapes and towns. The mountains, the lochs and the intrincate roads make the perfect backdrop for classic car rallyes. This may have been the thought of the organisation of the annual Bugatti International Rally that is celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of the Bugatti Owners Club. More than 50 Bugattis of almost all kinds and years (but all pre-war) have been touring Scotland between the 16th and the 22th of June. Yesterday the cars could be seen in the capital, the city of Edinburgh. The traditionally quiet center was altered by the sound, the smell and beauty of these mechanic wonders, as happened with the (supposedly private and peaceful) wedding with petrol smell of the photo 2. As always with the French marque there were many cars which are a mixture of old and new parts with a surprising result (see the Type 57 "chromed" in photo 3 or the impressive wheels of the amazing Type 59 in photo 4).

But we looked for the unrestored, original or "oily rag" cars, and we found some of them. The 1924 Type 30 of photo 5 was driven by an old lady who said to have bought the car in 1958 and had a truly lovely patina, as had the strange Type 44 of photo 6, with a body (by Touring? Zagato?) that from this angle appears like a Alfa Romeo 6C! All cars departed for the North of Scotland where beautiful roads and "lochs" are awaiting. (text and photos Francisco Carríon)
